Four & Twenty

I was very sad to see the Orchid Cafe' close down a few months ago and have watched this space with interest. When I finally had a chance to visit this week I was happy to find out that the space is now occupied by a new lovely cafe and pantry called Four & Twenty
The Decor is Bright and Eclectic and a bit Parisian a bit Capetonian....a lovely mix!
They got me at "made with LOVE".....
Great selection of breads and pastries...
A simple Menu that apparently changes every couple of weeks and the selection seems very good and wholesome...some very classic dishes and others with a twist!!! The 2 owners are both Silwood trained Chefs and avid travelers! always a good combination!
Perfect selection of pastries, cakes, scones...for afternoon tea!

A great mix of vintage crockery and Wonkiware. So pretty!

My flat white was JUST the right temperature and the beans they use are......
Fairtrade and from "Bean There" !!!

My Eggs were perfectly poached and the Hollandaise Sauce so light and tangy I did not feel guilty eating it!!!
The Pantry stocks some delicious local meats, cheese, organic eggs, cheese, jams, cordials, chickpea apple hummus,  you will not be able to resist!!!

BABEL revisited!!!

If I had it my way I would eat at BABEL everyday ......or I can just buy their gorgeous new recipe book and attempt some of the recipes at home (after my much needed DETOX!!!!)...!!!

The new shop is absolutely gorgeous- filled with colorful preserves, chutneys, cordials, wine and the most amazing breads and cheese!
I love these bottles and I'm now starting to collect them....and just fill them with water!
makes drinking water a little prettier.
Bath salts and roses.....they make the whole shop smell divine!

My little pumpkin in the pumpkin patch...
Such a simple but pretty idea....food coloring in  the flower vases!
Beetroot butter ? genius...
The Red Salad.
The Green Salad...
My absolutely delicious trout.

Why do I love their food so much? they actually say it best:

"We don't like to tamper unduly with food or slash it to bits - pick, clean, serve is our approach. Food reflects the colours of the season: in summer we may serve you an Orange Salad of pumpkin, oranges, carrots and maybe a handful of pomegranate seeds; in winter there will perhaps be a slow-cooked leg of lamb to warm you up."

Pink Coffee Boutique

Since 2 of my favorite spots in the Southern Suburbs have closed (Orchid Cafe and Dutch) I was happy to find a new coffee spot on my way back from the school drop off!
PINK COFFEE BOUTIQUE in Kenilworth.
lots of little corky bird houses all around the back garden area...
And of course a touch of PINK everywhere...
They have a lovely kids table with lots of coloring books, fun markers and games.
And there is a shop within the cafe with great gifts, ribbons, colorful gift boxes, vintage toys, cards, hats etc.
