Spades & Spoons- organically delicious!

I first discovered Spades & Spoons at KAMERSVOL just a few weeks ago and I was immediately intrigued by their absolutely delicious coconut crackers and other RAW products! I was very happy to find out that they were just down the road from Vesper's school where the old Organic at Heart was located.
First interesting thing I noticed were the vintage books .....containing the menus!
Very cool idea (just like our wedding invites!!)
Surprisingly all these raw goodies are actually really tasty....
The Space is simple and decorated with lovely vintages pieces , flowers  and herbs from the garden...

They have a lot of great juices and very intriguing breakfast choices (RAW & COOKED!)....and they do serve MEAT  with their pledge in MIND:
"We aim to source all of produce from organic, fair-trade suppliers, to develop relationships with local organic farmers and to practice sustainability, recycling and re-purposing principles at every stage."
This is their story!
And this was my delicious breakfast: Traditional Galette with Organic Eggs, Mushroom and Tomatoes....yum!
Great place to take the kids as well....

Hilton Spa Boutique ....as TRASHY as Paris!!!

It had been about a year from my last Groupon experience, so I thought I'd give it another try!!! big mistake....

What was advertised as an Aromatherapy Massage at the Hilton Spa Boutique - was possibly the worst massage I have had in a very long time. To sum it all up....Vesper and her tiny little hands would have given me a much better massage then the 12 year old massage therapist (I seriously doubt any of her credentials).

I knew as we walked in this was definitely not the classiest place in town.....it was all confirmed when I realized that the treatment room was actually not even big enough for the therapist to walk around the table...and the floor was covered in oil.

The oil she used had absolutely no AROMA and I'm pretty sure it was some sort of canola or vegetable oil...! lovely.....

Her technique was ......non existent -I had a much better massage in Madagascar when the therapists ended up being the housekeeper and the maintenance guy !!

Lesson learned AGAIN.....pay full price and enjoy some of our great Spas like the One & Only, Fresh Wellness at the Cellars and my little local favorite Ambiente!!! world class....and stay away from anything that has the word HILTON in it!

The Chandelier says it all!!!

Noble Hill: Cosecha....Latin with a view!

Cosecha had been a "bookmark" on my laptop for a long time....until this past Saturday when we  had an opportunity to go and check it out!!!
What a pleasant surprise!
OK we did have a PERFECT summer day, but the settings and the views  were pretty  impressive, regardless!
Our lovely table....

They have a beautiful lawn with lots of trees and picnic blankets....AND...a jungle gym!
You can sit in the open dining area and have a proper Latin infused absolutely DELICIOUS  meal...or you can order a PICNIC and sit at one of the tables under the trees...

We knew we were in for a treat when the lovely waitress pulled up with a  trolley and made us fresh guacamole on the spot. I'm an AVO fanatic so this was the beginning of a great meal....
They have a kids menu that actually makes sense, and you can order a KIDS picnic basket (I think the idea is to send them off to the grass lawn to eat on their own!! ). They have a choice of wors roll, chicken slider, or pb&j. Yogurt, chips, & juice and a fruit!

Vesper and Mr "X" enjoyed theirs....
This was Lynd's chicken Fajita!
My "absolutely divine" Fish tacos.....best I have had in SA!
Tony's Pulled Pork Sandwich.
And me......happy to chill out after a very filling and delicious meal!
Cin Cin my friend....
Even the kids felt they needed a bit of exercise!
And the Daddies enjoyed some special play dough  with the kids...
Oh yes...even the dessert were amazing!
Tough Day Guys....eh????? too much Cerveza????

FRESH WELLNESS...and a huge delicious lunch!

We have been complaining about winter for the last 3 months.....well, it looks like Summer in Cape Town may have not been canceled after all! the gardens at the Cellars Hohenort were looking amazing this week...
So I decided (with my dear friend Carol!) it was time to get pampered and check out the newly  relaunched  Fresh Wellness Spa at the hotel.
Such a lovely intimate setting......and my treatment -  a Theravine  Intensive Exfoliating Skin Treatment-  was absolutely amazing. The best part aside from the divine smell of the products was the 20 minute foot massage and the 10 minute Neck/Shoulder/Head massage that comes with it!!! Nelly's hands deserve an award!
So of course after hearing all the great reviews about The Conservatory....we could not have picked a better day to indulge in a scrumptious lunch of Moules Frites (best in Cape Town!), Caesar Salad with Twice Cooked Hen's Egg , Seared Chalmar Beed Carpaccio and the most amazing selection of bread!
Our Caesar Salad with added Prawn!
Chalmar Beef Carpaccio
Happy Carol!
What a great way to spend an afternoon!!!
