BABEL revisited!!!

If I had it my way I would eat at BABEL everyday ......or I can just buy their gorgeous new recipe book and attempt some of the recipes at home (after my much needed DETOX!!!!)...!!!

The new shop is absolutely gorgeous- filled with colorful preserves, chutneys, cordials, wine and the most amazing breads and cheese!
I love these bottles and I'm now starting to collect them....and just fill them with water!
makes drinking water a little prettier.
Bath salts and roses.....they make the whole shop smell divine!

My little pumpkin in the pumpkin patch...
Such a simple but pretty idea....food coloring in  the flower vases!
Beetroot butter ? genius...
The Red Salad.
The Green Salad...
My absolutely delicious trout.

Why do I love their food so much? they actually say it best:

"We don't like to tamper unduly with food or slash it to bits - pick, clean, serve is our approach. Food reflects the colours of the season: in summer we may serve you an Orange Salad of pumpkin, oranges, carrots and maybe a handful of pomegranate seeds; in winter there will perhaps be a slow-cooked leg of lamb to warm you up."

The Bungalow.....

Wasn't Sunday the PERFECT summer day in Capetown with scorching temperatures of 30 ++++ degrees??? yes...so The Bungalow (ex La Med) was actually the perfect place to have lunch with the girls and a few other friends...
The Venue is just fantastic...the owner, who also manages Pepenero, Paranga and the new "Bling Bling" version of The Alphen, has not spared any expenses and the place is simply Capetown Fab at its best!!!
Yes...there is a small plunge pool, where I suppose if you are a tanned, blonde, skinny resident of Camps Bay....you can dip in the pool in your bikini, if you do not belong to that category...best to just dip your feet...as the pool is in the MIDDLE of the restaurant. There are cushions all around so you can actually chill and have one or many drinks as you soak....I think they should turn this into a proper PEDI pool, with fancy sea salt, massage jets, etc... :-)
Oh Yes...and if you are 2 years old and super cute....you can also go in the pool.
Lunch marked the end of 2.5 weeks of the girls visit to CPT. Here they are sharing some special time with their Dad and Godfather...
We can't wait to see them again in April!!!

A little Note about The Bungalow....: The Service is not the sharpest at the moment, so it requires a bit of patience! you have to pay R25 if you want to park down below by the restaurant....the food is OK, go for the Sushi or the Fish and Chips (some nice salads too) and the Banana Sunday! Call me when you get a reservation....I'll go AGAIN!

Homemade Middle Eastern Food- I LOVE!!!!

I Love Middle Eastern Food....maybe because it reminds me of Sicilian food - it incorporates a lot of the same ingredients: Aubergine, Mint, Chickpeas, Couscous, Almonds, Parsley etc...so today I was really happy to find sababa  at 233 Bree Street.

Some of you may already know the Seapoint branch, but this one is only 2 months old and has a great vibe with chairs and table on the sidewalk, a very friendly staff and a HUGE vegetarian selection. YEAH!!! so I decided to take the Lunch Box home. For R40-R45 you can get yourself a Meat + 3 SIDE SALADS!!!! or a Vegetarian Main + 3 salads. I just finished eating mine and licked the eco-friendly take away container. Sababa is very GREEN, with solar heated water panels and all eco-friendly bio degradable packaging. One more reason to go.
Oh Yes....and the sweets do not look that bad either.

V& A.....

So X-mas has arrived at the V&A and with that....2 new (but Old!) restaurants, and probably a lot more than that, but that's all I could pay attention to during my quick visit with Miss V this morning:
A New Harbor House where the old Fisherman's Choice was. Looks lovely and they have a big DECK on top which seems perfect for sundowners!!! Hello Summer!!!

Fisherman's Choice has moved down by the boats with a new slick look ...and you know what? their Fish and Chips and Fried Calamari looked mighty YUMMY!!!!! I'm totally ready for a Catamaran Sail (R120 pp + KIDS under 4 FREE) and a greasy Fish & Chips...let me know who wants to join me anytime soon..

Another Blog!!!???

Just an easier way for me to share all my discoveries with those who actually want to know....at least now you have to voluntarily SUBSCRIBE to hear from me !!! :-) Spring has arrived!!
Vesper and I spent a couple of hours with Tommy and Luanne at HIGH TEA at Farriers and it was just glorious...rocks, fountains, sticks, sunshine and yummy Savory Scones and Cappuccinos. I highly recommend it....and the bill for 4 of us was under R100 !!!! a cheap date with your little one. Dani's Tip: Always book a table (021 797 1421) it gets busy. They will not reserve a table outside but if you book and there is one available you will have priority seating. If you order a savory scone- share it! it is enormous. SCOOP: New Gift Shop coming soon right in the courtyard.
