INTAKA ISLAND....who knew!!!

Earlier this week I learned from one of my favorite blogger about INTAKA ISLAND....

Who knew that only 7 km away from Cape Town, in the middle of Century City  is a Bird Paradise and Eco- Centre with 313 species of indigenous plants and over 120 species of birds?
So I sent Vesper and Habibah on an adventure.....
They thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon in the sun.....
Enjoyed a ride on the Grand Canal...

Did some bird watching!.
And all of this for R30 !!!

Intaka Island is open to visitors 364 days a year .

Winter Months (May - September): 07h30 - 17h30
Summer Months (October – April): 07h30 – 19h00

Entrace Fee is R10 per adult or R30 if you do the Boat/Eco-Centre combo.

Hangover lunch??.....Cafe Dijon!!!

You will not easily stumble upon Cafe Dijon unless you purposely go and find it...

This "brand new" Bistro is located in the Rockwell Building in Greenpoint (right across from the Cape Quarter) and although service was slow on Sunday (mainly because the kitchen was slow!), it was a great place to have a very lazy (over 3 hours!) Sunday Lunch!

The food was what you expect from a BISTRO with some classic dishes like snails, steak tartare, French Onion soup and apparently a very good steak... from my side I can confirm that the chips and the onion rings were.....worth the visit! !!!

Café Dijon

The entrance is located at 9 Alfred Street, while approximately 180 parking bays are available just below the restaurant, in The Rockwell.

Home Brewed

You know I'm a fan of "local" and HOME BREWED is a good example of locally sourced and manufactured kids clothing that's environmentally friendly and CUTE!!!

I think these make great gifts for our friends overseas who always prefer something "African" !

You can find them at:
Palmyra Junction Shopping Centre
Open daily 9am - 6pm Mondays - Saturdays.
Sunday 9am - 1pm.
Closed Public Holidays.

And they will soon be back at the Hout Bay Market!

MORE QUARTERS

In the last couple of weeks Vesper and I have been busy doing "site inspections" throughout Cape Town and the Eastern Cape....here are a few snapshots from our stay at the MORE QUARTERS

A nice Welcome for Vesper with Alphabet Magnets on the fridge and a box of toys...

Our comfy bed...complete with "Princess" robe and slippers (she wore them to sleep!)

More Quarters has 16 lovely apartments in Gardens and they are perfect for families or for younger guests who like to be walking distance from the "action" on Long or Kloof street!

One street over from the More Quarters is their Boutique Hotel (no children here!) Cape Cadogan!

Such a lovely "home" feeling.....

Quirky Abode

I love it when I randomly come across interesting "locally made" products/gifts/homeware during my morning wanderings around town....

All of the items on this post were found at Quirky.Me - Abode, a lovely shop in the
OLD BISCUIT MILL.

We should all have lots of CARPE DIEM moments to record!

A collection of postcards.

Retro placemats.

How many times did you need a card like this to give to someone you care about?

Fun baking accessories.....to pimp your home made cookies!

We all need one of these boxes!

And this one!

And what better way to advertise our "beautiful city" !

And....the BEST coffee in town is only a few doors down:
ESPRESSO LAB

The Old Biscuit Mill- Albert Road,
      Woodstock
      OPEN MONDAY-SATURDAY, not only Saturday!
