Kaapse Stories

Richard Loring, producer of internationally-acclaimed African Footprint and his friend and business colleague, Roland Seidel, were thrilled when they found the space on the corner of Glengariff and Main Roads in Sea Point, where they could create a venue, similar to Richard’s successful Sound Stage in Johannesburg, to showcase the diverse tastes and cultures that Cape Town has to offer....

We were invited by Roland to join him last Saturday to enjoy an evening of entertainment and....entertaining it was!!!! we had a blast....

From the moment the audience enters they are enveloped in characteristic scenes of the Cape - a wrap-around ‘set’ for this interactive theatre. With a ‘street party’ feel, you are seated at sociable tables to enjoy a scrumptious 4-course Cape-Style buffet and Cape wines .

With the unique humour, joyful songs and intoxicating rhythms unique to the Cape, produced by Naledi Lifetime-award-winner Richard Loring and written and directed by award-winning, Basil Appollis, “Kaapse Stories from the Mother City is a tribute to the spirit and soul of the vibrant cosmopolitan community that thrived at the foot of Table Mountain in District Six. Through stories forged by their striving through adversity, from challenges to triumphs, we discover diamonds in the dust - the joyous Cape Town community - the original ‘Rainbow Nation'.
The cast is talented and vibrant and there are some pretty impressive  totally unexpected moments throughout the night....
We were sworn to secrecy, so I'm not going to reveal too much.....but please do yourself a favor and go check-out this show.  Get a bunch of friends together and make it a "party"....!!!
